The Old Course - St Andrews
St Andrews Luxury Golf present the Old Course at St Andrews - The Old Course can be
incorporated into any golf vacation or golf tour to Scotland with ‘Guaranteed Tee
Times’
St Andrews has played a fundamental role in the game of golf for some 600 years. With such history
abounding, walking through the 'Auld Grey Toon' alone brings shivers to the back of the neck. Walking
the fabled links is an experience best kept close to the heart as one of life's most precious!
This naturally formed coastal margin, created over the millennia by alluvial deposits, receding sea and
hammering wind is undoubtedly where the game as we now know it, took root and developed. By the
16th century, "gowf" was well established although records indicate that the game had been in
existence long before. The sandy peninsula was originally gifted to the people of St Andrews by King
David in 1123 and it remains the property of St Andrews citizens today.
Over the years, the Old Course at St Andrews has witnessed all the world's great golfers gracing its
hallowed turf and forming their own reverent opinions. Arnold Palmer said, "This is the origin of the
game, golf in its purest form, and it's still played that way on a course seemingly untouched by time.
Every time I play here, it reminds me that this is still a game."
Of course there isn't just the Old Course in St Andrews. The town offers 7 excellent golf experiences
such as the New, the Jubilee and the recently opened Castle Course. A 'Guaranteed Tee Time' for the
Old Course can be incorporated into what will be the golf tour of a lifetime.
