Only 20 minutes from the Scottish capital of Edinburgh it offers lovely views across the Firth to Fife and the near proximity the many skerries (islands). The course starts close to the heart of town working its way out along the beach before returning home. This is distinctive, undulating linksland, raised humps and hidden hollows providing much visual and golfing splendour to the visiting golfer. On the opening holes, the wide sandy beach is more of a feature than some care for as it is very much in play certainly for the first two holes.
