Designed by Old Tom Morris, it stands exposed to the elements and gentle to strong zephyrs are constant influences on Dunbar’s ultimate demeanour.  The opening and closing holes are played behind an ancient sea wall before you step forth onto the 4th to appreciate Dunbar’s spectacular seaside aspect. The view back from the 4th tee to the ancient fishing village is outstanding. With the beach on the left and the walls of Broxmouth Estate on the right, a golfer’s concentration must remain sharp to avoid trouble. The course turns at the 11th usually back into the wind and it’s on this homeward stretch Dunbar shows its true mettle.  The strongest challenge usually comes is the 12th, a difficult Par 4 of 460 yards, more often than not straight into the wind. Dunbar maintains its strict character all the way home, an alluring yet thorough test of your best efforts.
